The cost of the workshop includes the entry to the Park so you can enjoy the 2km walk before or after your workshop. Or, stop and enjoy the refreshments found at the Roosting Ruru Cafe located by the Artist shelter.

Kid’s Bookbinding Workshop

Saturday 12th July

Join us on Saturday 12th July for a book-binding workshop.  Create your own pamphlet journal and start decorating it inspired by the beautiful surroundings  of the arboretum.  Whether you enjoy writing, drawing or collecting this personal journal will be great for keeping all your ideas - and when it is full you will know how to make another one!

Ticket includes all materials needed for creating  a pamphlet notebook and a hot drink during the workshop.

Workshop is help in an outdoor studio so please dress warmly.

Nature Journaling with Sandra Morris

Learn how to draw and write for identification or just for pleasure from the natural world around the Sculpture gardens with botanical artist and award winning illustrator Sandra Morris.    

No previous artistic skills are necessary, just a desire to learn to look and record in the best way suited to each individual, be it in the form of a sketch, a detailed drawing, a diagram, a graph, and /or using words and numbers, poems, haiku, lists, prose, descriptions etc. By consistently journaling, we learn more about the natural world, through observation and enquiry.

Explore the Magic of Watercolour  

Painting plants from the sculpture garden with botanical artist Sandra Morris. No experience is necessary, as Sandra will guide you as you learn about this fabulous medium and how to achieve stunning results with the right tools, the right tips and some tricks Sandra has used in her own art practice.  

Sandra will take you through this creative process.

Have a go at Pottery

18th September

Come and join Sylvia for a fun 2 hour "Have-a-go at pottery" workshop. Sylvia will demonstrate a few handbuilding projects and we will incorporate organic materials found in the park to make interesting surfaces. 2 kg of clay, glaze and firing included in the price (enough to make quite a few items).  

The setup is aimed for beginners and curious creatives who want to try their hands at clay work in a relaxed setting. Please allow 2-3 weeks for the firings.
