NATHAN AND DESTINE HULL
As a duo, Nathan and Destine Hull combine contrasting yet complimentary approaches to metal art. With a shared passion for transforming reclaimed materials, their collaboration blends Nathan’s bold, structural foundations with Destine’s eye for detail and finish. Over the past decade, their combined skills have forged pieces that balance strength with flow, often blurring the lines between industrial and organic.
STEEL VOID
Destine Hull works with recycled metals, creating pieces inspired by the natural world. Inspiration initially following the colours and textures found during the changing seasons planting and pruning an edible landscape while manoeuvring around the scrap pile left by her husband. Utilising the materials natural form and texture, playing on its oxidized, weathered tones and patinas, pieces often appear somewhat unearthed rather than made.
NATHAN HULL SCULPTURE
Nathan Hull is best known for his unique and usually large sculptures created from an array of recycled metals, mostly stainless steel and copper but including engine parts, tools and other industrial detritus.
Bringing a qualified engineering history to artistic inspiration often found in nature’s flora and fauna over the last 25 years have seen some incredible life size sculptures from insects and birds, a Bison, to a 6m eagle and a 12m Waka.
Each piece tends to evoke a feeling of immense strength and stability while developing their own unique personalities.
