Inspiring Creative Spaces- Painters at the Park, the exhibition and auction
In the last two weeks, eighteen selected visual artists, inspired by the Sculpture Park, worked on-site to produce a wide-range of paintings, prints, and drawings. These are available at a buy-now price or can be purchased at the Auction on the 9th March.
For some artists this was their first contact with the Sculpture Park- and for the Trust it was a chance to give two dimensional visual artists the opportunity to interact with the Park. The response was quite overwhelming.
Interpretations of the Park range from watercolour and acrylic landscape views to abstractions including representations of the confiscation line that forms a boundary of the site and stretches all the way to Mt. Te Aroha.
Pop in for a complementary tea or coffee during the next two weeks. There is free entry to the auction and exhibition site only. An entry fee, to visit the current sculpture exhibition in the Park, SUMMER” Utopia into Dystopia still applies. The auction preview and registration starts at 4pm; the auction at 5pm on Saturday, 9th March.
Participating artists include: Michael Barker (Te Aroha), Wendy Bolger,Jos Coufreur (Tauranga), Peter Dornauf, Jo Gallagher (Te Kuiti), Colin Gibbs (Hamilton), Sofia Minson (Auckland), Bernadette Parsons (Tuakau), Jill Perrott (Auckland), Donn Ratana, Carole Shepheard, Diane Scott, Jane Siddall, Gavin Smith (Cambridge), James Sutherland, Pauline Tapping, Faith Thomas (Cambridge), Pam Watson.
