About the Waikato Sculpture Trust

Registered as a Charitable Entity 7 January 2008; Registration Number CC20383

The purpose of the Trust

The Waikato Sculpture Trust enables a diverse audience to enjoy sculpture in a natural setting, raises the profile of contemporary sculpture and provides artists with an opportunity to use the variety of landscapes within a dedicated sculpture park to display their work.

The Trust was formed in May 2007, to encourage and support emerging and established artists to display their sculpture in an environment unique within New Zealand. It does this by:

  1. organizing sculpture exhibitions
  2. encouraging artists to use an outstanding venue that is accessed by a broad range of visitors
  3. promoting sculpture within the education sector.

The Trust works closely with the Sculpture Park @ Waitakaruru Arboretum to provide a venue that is now formally acknowledged as a Garden of Significance (NZ Gardens Trust).  The Park has been the site for 19 sculpture exhibitions since it opened to the public in November 2004.
